Here at the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, we have seen the rates of those who need our help skyrocket. Last year, we served almost 250,000 individuals. This year, with 2 months of agency reporting to be calculated, we have already served over 330,000! And these people aren’t who you think they are…these are folks who sit next to you in church, those who you pass at work, people who stand behind you in the post office. The economy has affected each of us in different ways, but for some, decisions like buying medicine or putting food on the table is an everyday struggle. We need a mass movement to end hunger here in America; we’re thrilled that President Obama is keeping his eye on this worthy cause.
